The ‘’Shortgrass Spur’’ is a design project proposing the revegetation of the historical Western Great Plains shortgrass prairie along an abandoned railroad spur in a Southern New Mexico town entering the twilight of its aquifer supply. The ‘’Shortgrass Spur’’ aims to prevent erosion, conserve limited water resources, improve watershed health, and create habitat potential. The ‘’Shortgrass Spur’’ also creates an ecological spine through the town, offering new opportunities for recreation and linking existing amenities.
